The program will provide information about A Safe Place’s programs, domestic violence, and how the community can help.

A Safe Place provides emergency shelter; affordable transitional housing; a 24-hour help line (847-249-4450); court and non-legal advocacy; individual, group, and children’s counseling; family visitation services; batterer intervention services; and community outreach, prevention education, and professional training.

Denise Gentes, Individual Giving Specialist, has been at A Safe Place for a year and a half and is responsible for coordinating fundraising and outreach efforts. She is responsible for planning the upcoming EmpoweRun 5K in May, as well as visiting community groups, churches and businesses to spread the word about what A Safe Place is doing. Denise is currently getting a Masters in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Development.

Charlene Quint is an attorney and volunteer who has partnered with A Safe Place in representing women escaping domestic abuse. In 2012, she was forced to flee from her own home in Lake Forest because it was no longer safe. In 2015, Charlene took extensive training to become a Certified Domestic Violence Professional and started a women’s domestic violence support group in Lake Forest with A Safe Place. In 2016, after 15 years as a corporate attorney with SchiffHardin LLP, Charlene started her own firm to represent other women escaping domestic abuse. Charlene also serves on the Board of Regents for Trinity International University, and on the Board of Trustees for Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies. She is the author of two books, “Blessings, Prayers and Heart Songs” (DeepRiver Books 2014), and “Angels of Ebermannstadt” (DeepRiver Books 2012), two law journal articles, and numerous articles. She is the founder of The Blessing Collection, a faith-based ministry and giftware organization at www.theblessingscollection.com. Prior to her tenure as a corporate attorney, Charlene served as federal law clerk to the Hon. Morton Denlow, and, prior to law school, served as the CFO for Probus Publishing in Chicago. She started her career as a CPA for Arthur Andersen & Co. Charlene graduated from Augustana College, summa cum laude, and from Loyola University of Chicago Law School, magna cum laude.
