Learning about what the Clerk of the Court's office does
Our speaker today was Keith Brin, newly elected Clerk of the Circuit Court in Lake County. Keith talked to us about the importance of the clerk's office - it underlies many vital functions such as processing traffic tickets, court cases, divorces, etc. The office is a repository of enormous quantities of documents, and Keith's first goal is to introduce paperless record keeping by instituting an e-filing system.
Although Keith has only been in office for a few months, already the system under development is being viewed as a national model, and he's had many inquiries from other jurisdictions about purchasing or leasing it. Keith is also focusing on customer service, providing further training to his staff.
Keith does not anticipate remaining in this elected office for the long term; he wants to implement positive changes and then move on to new challenges.
Today we also welcomed new member David Aslesen, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Lake Bluff. We can already see that David will be a great asset to our club.
