On February 13 our speaker was Amelia Snoblin, Seton Hall '12, who gave an interesting presentation on her study-abroad experience in Cuba in January 2012. Topics included the Cuban educational system, culture, food, the local economy, and agriculture.
Cuba has a very high literacy rate and is known throughout Central and South America for its medical schools. Like China, the country is slowly moving toward a semi-privatized economic model. Amelia reported that the people were very friendly and enjoyed welcoming American visitors. Cuba is a popular tourist destination for Scandinavians, Germans, Canadians, and South Americans.
Amelia's photos and description of this beautiful island that most of us will never see were a welcome treat.
